Overview & Reviews
For 2006, Toyota has fitted the Land Cruiser's V8 with variable valve-timing technology, and the result is a welcome increase of 40 horsepower (to 275) over last year's model. Other changes this year include a standard tire-pressure monitor system, a newly optional automatic height-control and suspension and minor exterior styling revisions, which include a new grille, headlamps and taillamps.
- Go-anywhere capability, smooth ride quality, strong and smooth V8, versatile interior with luxurious appointments.

Land cruiser - 2006 Toyota Land Cruiser
By western6 - December 20 - 5:03 pmI have a Mercedes S class, my wifes Land Cruiser is better built and rides nicer! It does have its problems, climate control does not work well. You cant control the rear climate from the front seat and it could use more power.

New 2006 LC - 2006 Toyota Land Cruiser
By jennalex - September 9 - 3:40 amWe drove it all, but nothing came close to the fit and finish of the Land Cruiser. The ride and handling are superb, not to mention the reliability and durability. The LC now has more hp (275). This SUV is smooth, quiet, and solid. If you can swing the price, go for it. Sure, other SUVs may have a little more room, but none have the quality.

As good as it gets? - 2006 Toyota Land Cruiser
By Pete - February 5 - 3:10 amWell worth the price of admission. Compliments from everyone who sees and rides in it. This is my 4th Cruiser and they still are the best actually still made in Japan SUV out there. Ive owned 41 vehicles in 22 years and this is the finest overall one yet for its intended purpose.

World Class - 2006 Toyota Land Cruiser
By Joe - October 25 - 8:50 pmGreat roadability: steering brakes suspension. Great performance and acceleration. Only problem experienced is squeak in dash. Overall quality exceptional. I am completely secure in this vehicle in any terrain in any weather whether highway or outback. Nothing beats world class.

Truly the best 4x4xFar - 2006 Toyota Land Cruiser
By zad329 - June 7 - 8:23 pmMy family has owned six (6!) Land Cruisers over the years, but I was the black sheep who strayed and purchased a Range Rover. The Rover was gorgeous, and a very able 4x4, but the thing was incredibly unreliable. When repairs were needed (which was often) the bills were frequently more than $1000-$2000. Long story short, I wised up, sold the Rover and bought an 06 Land Cruiser. Theres a reason the UN owns 12,000 Land Cruisers: you cant kill em. This vehicle is, by far, the most reliable & able SUV in the world. I am the prodigal son who returned, and the LC is where Im going to stay. After all, my Moms 99 LC just hit 300,000 miles; shes shooting for 1,000,000. Stay tuned.

Solid value - 2006 Toyota Land Cruiser
By Carl - April 2 - 7:46 amThis SUV feels like it will run forever. Many people would like to see Toyota spruce the LC exterior up but you should look to purchase the lexus470 if thats more important to you. We love the rugged exterior and simple elegant, durable interior. Beautiful ride. Tight turning radius. Mileage is 15.5 overall so far for blend of city/hwy. The rear compartment could be bigger and the window controls on the drivers side requires your left wrist be double-jointed, but otherwise very pleased.

Everything but sporty - 2006 Toyota Land Cruiser
By jennal - October 19 - 11:20 amWanted an SUV worthy of buying instead of leasing. Something I could and like to drive for 15 years +. Wanted a Land Cruiser for a while, now I own one, and love it. The truck feels solid , tight, and precise. Decent power, very quiet. looks very nice ( not over the top, but not too plain) . Very thirsty but knew that when I bought it.

Best SUV - 2006 Toyota Land Cruiser
By runski - September 26 - 9:40 amQuieter than my Subaru Outback, Honda Civic and my Cherokee. Superb built interior/exterior. Examined underneath, almost every component is massive and solid. Fitting is tight. If you are contemplating buying one, just do it, you will not regret it.

Libra - 2006 Toyota Land Cruiser
By Alfonso - April 9 - 4:13 pmI purchased the long bodied 8-seater and although this car is no beauty to look at, it is the best car Ive ever owned, and most certainly the best of my SUVs. Because it is a diesel powered car, the fuel consumption is much better than the gas models. It has great stability and efficiently corrects any tendency to sway in speedy curves. Design is extremely sturdy and strong but heavy acceleration is remarkably good. Service prices are quite reasonable. Rational design allows for very fast service and time/mileage between required service is highly competitive.
